Soggy summer dampens the Global Warming BBQ

By the look of it the eco-lunatics took over the Aussie-Asylum and having repeatedly failed to condemn the many law breakers on their own side, they seem to have this mad idea that passing laws that not even they respect, is going to stop sceptics worldwide explaining to Aussies that science doesn’t support the eco-nutters. (link)

So, I couldn’t help note the irony that Aussies have had a “BBQ summer”** and belief in global warming non-science is getting washed down the gutter:-

Wet summer could lead to climate confusion in Australia

MELBOURNE: Australian climate scientists are concerned over the fact that the nation’s cool and wet summer could lead to confusion about whether climate change is real, according to a media report. (The Times of India)

Climate change still a reality despite soggy summer, warns report

Australia’s top climate advisory panel has warned strongly against letting the recent mild and wet weather encourage complacency about climate change, insisting the long-term trend remains as alarming as ever. (Brisbane Times)

Inconsistent on rain

THE latest Climate Commission report (“Record La Nina linked to climate change”, 15/3) states “Climate change cannot be ruled out as a factor in recent heavy rainfall effects”.
(The Australian)

Don’t be fooled by wet summer warn scientists

CLIMATE scientists say Australians shouldn’t be fooled into thinking the world isn’t warming just because much of the country experienced a relatively wet and cool summer.
(Herald Sun)

Shouldn’t that last one read:

Summer Warning: Don’t be fooled by Wet Scientists.

CLIMATE scientists who thought Australians could be fooled into thinking the world is warming just because of a few warm summers, now have egg on their face as much of the country experienced a relatively wet and cool summer.

Go Put a Shrimp on the Barbie!

**The Met Office famously predicted a “BBQ” summer in 2010 which was notorious for having so much wet, cold and miserable weather totally unsuited for BBQs.

  1. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Ouch. I live in the electorate of Mr Greg Combet, Minister of Climate Change. And its raining again today too.

How on earth could I explain the work of Svensmark, Friis-Christensen and Lindzen to him?

Fortunately here in Oz we’re blessed with Jo Nova, Bob Carter, Ian Plimer, David Archibald and many others.

    • I think I might ask a question:

Scotland is attempting to “lead teh world” in renewables. It is doing so at huge cost to itself with every wind job costing 3.9 jobs in other areas. It is doing so when 23,000 additional deaths are recorded each winter in the UK. It is doing so despite the historic evidence that during the extreme cold of the 1690s in the last Maunder minimum up to a quarter of Scotland’s population died. If Scotland one of the most northerly nations of the world is so selflessly sacrificing its economy to help warmer countries like Australia and stop CO2 warming. With the signs of a new Maunder Minimum on the horizon, isn’t it time that Australia started preparing to do is bit to help Scotland which will undoubtedly suffer disproportionately more than Australia from a cold spell like the 1690s?

Freedom of Information (do you have that?) Question: What provisions have the Australian Government made to send food aid, blankets heating fuel and other provision particularly to the old and poor in places like Scotland in the event of another extreme cold event like the 1690s?

      1. They cannot deny the 1690s (see the Ill years)
      2. They cannot deny it was during the Maunder Minimum … but note I have not said it was caused by the Maunder minimum, nor does the question say: “help during the Maunder Minimum” … it says what help during cold events … which undoubtedly happen and cannot be denied.
      3. So, the question becomes: “what help for countries suffering from the cold” …. particularly those who have done far far far more than their “share” to help other countries who might just have a problem with warming.

    • Thanks to Ian Plimer and Carter, Australia has the highest carbon tax. Warmist realized that they cannot come up with any proof of GLOBAL warming – CO2 is increasing / most are ready to spit the dummy and admit that was ALL a lie from the beginning.
Unfortunately, the idiots Plimer convinced of dozens of PHONY GLOBAL warmings are searching; why ”warming” is not continuing. When in reality; for the last 150y, extra warming hasn’t accumulated enough to boil one chicken egg. Plimer’s sick ego is giving oxygen to the Warmist propaganda. Tell the people in your electorate, to read what is on my blog; Greg Combet will give up, before the next election.

P.s. in winnable electorates for the conservatives; the Warmist are already stacking their own candidates ”as conservatives”- the opposition will win, but they will be Turnbull’s supporters – The next prime-minister Abbott will have to do everything they demand; or they will make his life miserable after 2 months. You, Plimer’s / Joanne’s people are for a big shock.

Recent poll data from the USA show that public ‘belief’ in global warming is swinging back in favour after reaching an all-time low in 2010 and early 2011. 62% of respondents now agree the earth is warming, compared to a low point of only 52% two years ago in Spring 2010.

Analysts ascribe this resurgence to the record-breaking March heatwave that has gripped most of the continental USA for the entire month of March.

Meanwhile, scientists from NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies are predicting that an upswing in solar activity combined with the next El Niño will trigger record global temperatures over the next three years.

Climate models and their interpreters all agree that the number/percentage of extreme weather events will increase as a result of global warming. Although it cannot be proved that any individual event would or would not have occurred in a pre-industrial atmosphere, statistics and avarages will increasingly bear out that hypothesis as more and more extreme weather events occur.

The ordinary people so beloved of pollsters will make their judgement based not on what the IPCC or politicians tell them but on ‘common sense’ and what they see happening around them. An increase in extreme weather events will lead to increased ‘belief’ in MMGW and increased support for policies designed to mitigate it.

I think that we will see this trend taking hold increasingly over the next three years, which are likely to be record-breakers all over the globe.

I predict that 2011 will go down in history as the year the wave of climate change denial reached its highest point and broke, foaming and hissing impotently, on the jagged rocks of reality.

  4. Makan Kerr says:

I want govt policy that is based on mainstream science, not on the views of a contrarian minority or the loud voices of vested interests. Every national science institute on the planet agrees that the planet is warming, human activity is causing it and the consequences will be devastating.
A couple of cool summers don’t mean that global warming has reversed, just as a couple of cold days at the beginning of May don’t mean that Spring is cancelled this year.

  5. Greg. Cavanagh says:

We only help with tsunamis. We don’t believe in helping people who live in cold countries, with cold related problems.

But we sure would welcome some more Irish immigrants. Come brother.

  6. Geoff Cruickshank says:

    From the article

“He further commented that people cannot personally detect the kind of warming trend that comes with climate change.”

That’s a very useful property in a catastrophic scare scenario. Just leave it all to the experts.
As to giving you lot a helping hand, of course I would, but being in Tasmania will probably have my hands full keeping warm myself…. any other time, of course!

  7. I see my comment from 5 ddays ago has not been approved. I guess this blog has gone the way of all such, and is just a cosy little members only club now.

    • Scots Renewables, having spent years trying to ensure the public were aware of the global warming scam… they now have all the evidence they could possible need. The evidence of the scam is no longer hidden… Heartland showed that there was no sceptic conspiracy, the climate has not warmed, there is no evidence to support the absurd claims of climate doomsday.

The only thing keeping this scam going is the stupidity and gullibility of politicians and such like.

I can ensure the public have the facts to make up their mind … I just can’t stop our politicians being scientific illiterates.

And to be quite blunt,I’ve wasted enough of my time on the public good for which I will get less than no thanks and it is about time that people who get paid to work for the public good got off their fat arses and did what they are paid to do.

… so no, there is no club … just an irate bunch of sceptics, who know that there is no earthly reason to carry on with this scam, wondering why we should waste more of our own time when there is next to no benefit for us personally.
